Ashington
Location : 15 miles North of Newcastle

Ashington was a World War One Home Defence Flight Station and Marine Operations Station. It occupied 105 acres of land measuring 730 x 700 yards and was in operation between October 1916 and June 1919 (HD) and July 1918 until January 1919 (Marine Ops). Hangar's consisted of two HD pattern aeroplane sheds (140 x 65 feet) as a coupled unit, plus one Bessonneau hangar (for 256Sqn aircraft) all positioned in the South-East corner of the aerodrome. A 1912 RAF pattern canvas hangar was provided for MT.
