66Sqn's North East history
66 Squadron has a long history dating back to the first world
war and during WWII, participated in the Battle of Britain with Spitfire I's.
The squadron moved to Acklington from Linton-on-Ouse on 14th
February 1957 where it had made the transition from Sabre F.4's to
Hunters. The squadron remained based until 30th September 1960 when
it was disbanded.
